Okay, so I born and raised in Orange County, California. A place where the weather is really quite nice... sunny, 72, cool breeze, it's lovely. I pretty much lived in sundresses and flip-flops. There are a few days (maybe a couple of weeks) in the winter that I would wake up with the temps in the mid-30s. It's at that time, I would dig out my Uggs to wear with my sundresses and turn the seat heater on in my car. The summers can be hot, in the 90s to low 100's inland - it's hot, but it's a dry heat. And... it rarely rains. When it does, everyone forgets how to drive... me included. Which brings me to Florida weather... it rains everyday, in the afternoon, like clock work. And... there is lightning and thunder. All of which took a little getting use to. At first, my thoughts were, "oh yay, movie day". However, I quickly realized that I can't have movie day, everyday. I had boat work to do before heading to the Bahamas. After getting caught in a few storms - traipsing through puddles in a downpour with no jacket or umbrella - I learned to look at the weather every morning with my coffee. And then I would check again several times during the day so I could plan my outside projects around the eminent storms. I became fascinated with weather and took lots of pictures...
“Oh yay, movie day!! Oh wait, everyday can't be movie day. I have stuff to do before heading off to the Bahamas.”
So one may ask, "what do you do when it's stormy outside?" Well, can tell you that we put on No Shoes Radio, talked about islands where there was 80 degree weather, 80 degree water, sandy beaches and cold drinks as I repaired the jib cover by hand and Doug tackled the mound of wiring that was sat behind the television cabinet.
The storms only last a short while and were usually over just in time happy hour and a glorious sunset.
Cheers!!!
