Sails up, engines off...

There is nothing like the peaceful feeling when the wind and the seas are in your favor. The gentle rocking motion as the boat glides up the face of a swell and surfs down the back - up and down, side to side... up and down, side to side. At the helm, I sit surrounded by the sweet splashing sounds of the boat gliding through the sapphire blue waters. Auto pilot is on. The wind is blowing my hair. The sun is warming my face. With my puppy by my side, I marvel at the majesty of the ocean. I scan the horizon for boats and obsticales such as seaweed and fishing traps, but all I spot is the sea foam trail from our wake, sporadic white caps and occasional flying fish. I pinch myself. This is real. This is my life. #blessed
We have been blessed with a several of those days - one day (I can't remember where we were) we had light winds behind us so, we put out geniker up for the first time. It took us a couple of tries to hoist the generous colorful nylon sail. But once we got it up, it was truly glorious.
Fair winds and smooth seas.
