Well, we made it to the Bahamas. We are all checked in, the pups too. I had my bikini on, my toes in the sand and my first Goombay Smash (sans the little umbrella) by 4:00pm.
The morning started at 4:30 to the sound of Three Little Birds from my cell phone alarm. You can't go wrong starting your day with a little Bob Marley. Now it's no secret that 4:30am is not my favorite hour, but I popped up out of bed like it was Christmas day. As we were doing all of our predeparture checks, we notice a huge tanker with a tug escort coming into the harbor to the dock. We thought it best stay out of his way so, I fired up the coffee pot. It's now 5:30am, the tanker is settled into his berth, we've had a cup of coffee; it's time to pull up anchor. We ended up motoring the 55 nautical miles as the winds were light, on our nose and the seas were smooth. We saw a few small personal vessels, a cruise ship and an amazing sunrise. Three hours into our sail we heard a welcoming sound. The kind of sound that puts a smile on your face and sends you running around like a crazy person. The humming sounds of the fishing rod. Yep, Doug snagged a most glorious fish, Mahi Mahi Mike. Doug had Mike clean, filleted, and turned into ceviche for lunch. Now that was a momentous event!
